Today’s Topic: Blessings and Burdens
Scripture: And all these blessings shall come upon you and overtake you, because you obey the voice of the LORD your God. – Deuteronomy 28:2, NKJV
Today’s Word
We all love when a blessing comes—we get the promotion, we move into the new house, we meet the right person. But with every blessing comes a burden. It’s a blessing to get the promotion; it’s a burden to have more responsibility and accountability. It’s a blessing to have a baby; it’s a burden to get up in the middle of the night. It’s a blessing to be healed; it’s a burden to change your lifestyle to stay healthy.
The mistake we make is that we want the blessing without the burden. That’s not reality. They come as a package. The key is to learn to enjoy the blessing while the burden is still there. Some burdens are not going to go away. You’re never going to get to the place where you’re problem free, and if you focus on them, you’ll lose your joy. When you change your perspective and focus on the blessing, you’ll enjoy your life and not just endure it. Don’t miss the joy of the blessings God has given you now because of the burdens that come with them.
Prayer For Today
“Father, thank You for every blessing You have put on my life. Thank You that You are taking me on a journey of faith and obedience that is beyond my dreams. Help me to focus on the blessings and not allow the burdens to distract me from the great things You are doing. In Jesus’ Name, Amen.”
Sometimes, we’re waiting for people to change, and then we’ll accept them. “When they start doing right, then I’ll have a better opinion.” But God doesn’t ask us to clean ourselves up and then we can come to Him. He says, “Come just as you are, and I’ll help you get cleaned up.” God waited for us when we were off course. He showed us mercy when we weren’t at our best. Now we need to take that same mercy and show it to someone else.
Hebrews says, “God’s Word is alive and full of power, sharper than any two-edged sword.” His promises coming out of your mouth will part Red Seas, will break addictions, will defeat the sickness, will open doors you never dreamed would open. Are you swinging your sword? Are you declaring what God says about you? Are you possessing your land, going after what He put in your heart, dreaming big, praying bold prayers, expecting His favor?
